Some of the initiatives
taken by various govt. departments in india Ministry
of environment and forest, govt. of India (Ministry
primarily responsible for preserving environment and
forest in the country) recently issued notification
containg directive for greater Flyasg utilization for
replacing the red clay bricks with flyash bricks.
One problem is the gerneral perception that fly ash
is a waste material and some how must be inferior
to naturally occurring materials. Howeverm one must
consider that flyash is produced as a by-product.
This material may only require minimal processing
and is supplied at a relatively low cost. Conversely,
manynaturally occuring aggregates are highly processed,
e.g. crushing, screenng, washing, etc. in order to
make them suitable for use.
